It was a beautiful day here so we got out on a late morning hike with all three kids and the dog. We didn’t get home until well after lunch time and we were all tired and hungry. I whipped together a quick pizza dough, slopped on some sauce and cheese and VOILA! The perfect carb filled lunch to satisfy the family.
Ingredients 2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast 1 tsp white sugar 1 cup warm water 2 1/2 cups bread flour | 2 Tbsp olive oil 1 tsp salt 2 garlic cloves, minced Cornmeal, for dusting |
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Put an empty cookie sheet into the oven while it preheats.
In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Stir in flour, salt and oil. Beat until smooth. Let rest for about five minutes.
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into whatever shape you like – go crazy! Transfer crust to another cookie sheet generously dusted with cornmeal.
Sprinkle dough with minced garlic and about a tablespoon of olive oil. Top with your favorite spaghetti sauce, cheese and anything else you like on pizza.
Pull the hot cookie sheet out of the oven and, using oven mitts, carefully slide the pizza from the cool sheet onto the hot sheet. Return to oven and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
